Goodbye morning breath: All-Natural DIY Peppermint Mouth Wash

Goodbye morning breath: All-Natural DIY Peppermint Mouth Wash

Here at VerMints we understand you can’t suck on organic mints ALL the time (though we find this to be a highly debatable subject). But we’re also less than fond of the nasty ingredients found in regular breath fresheners like traditional chewing gum and mouthwash.

The fact is that most of the so-called breath freshening rinses you see on the shelves contain yucky artificial flavoring, alcohol and many other harmful chemicals that actually dry out your mouth and make halitosis WORSE. So why are we putting this stuff in our mouths at all?

Cue all-natural, DIY mouthwash: an easy-to-make, non-toxic, and affordable fresh breath alternative. Whip up a mason jar of this minty elixir and say goodbye to morning breath for good!

This recipe contains all natural ingredients you can trust. The essential peppermint oil cures bad breath, the antibacterial properties of coconut oil fights cavities, and the sea salt and baking soda work to clean your gums and whiten your teeth. The end result is a happier, healthier mouth. It’s going to thank you, and so will your kissing partner!

WHAT YOU’LL NEED:

1 small mason jar or glass bottle

1/2 cup water

1 tsp coconut oil

1 tsp baking soda

½ tsp sea salt

2 or 3 drops peppermint essential oil*

HOW TO MAKE IT:

Pour all the ingredients into the jar and shake to combine (you’ll want to give the jar a shake before each use).

Gargle for 1 – 2 minutes.

Spit and rinse your mouth with water.

Kiss!

FRESH TIP: Pour some of the rinse into an even smaller container you can keep in your bag or at work for an afternoon rinse.

*We chose peppermint, but you can easily substitute it or add a couple drops of another essential oil like cinnamon or wintergreen.
